Gainesville Middle School JV · Grades 6–7
A competitive, developmental league for 6th and 7th grade players in Gainesville and Alachua County. Twelve teams play ten games each over five weeks, with games Tuesday through Friday evenings. The season runs November 3 through December 17.
Why GMS JV exists and what players get out of a season.
A competitive and developmental basketball experience for student-athletes in 6th and 7th grade.
Middle school basketball programs across Alachua County are strong, and there is plenty of young talent in North Central Florida. But many school teams are made up mostly of 8th graders, so 6th and 7th graders have had few chances to play real games. In the fall of 2025 the Gainesville basketball community came together to fill that gap and formed the Gainesville Middle School (GMS) JV Basketball League. Players competed at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center.
